Instructions:

  1. CMWRC is an approved provider of Volunteer Hours (Community Service Hours) to students doing such service.
  2. The school system has very strict criteria that must be followed.
  3. Our Bala Vihar Coordinator or his designee  will oversee these activities as a member of the Bala Vihar team.
  4. All activities must be sponsored by the Mission. We cannot give out ceritificates to our own students doing activity on their own for other organizations  – Individuals and students performing activities not overseen by us are not acceptable
  5. All activities performed and counted as Community Service hours should NOT be during the routine class time. Cleaning of premises, upkeep of premises and helping out in the Mission are NOT approved criteria. Preparing food, baskets etc during class time is NOT approved. What is being done in class is a commitment to the type of the organization we belong to. Being a non religious organization, these activities are similar to “keeping and maintaining” our home. When these activities are done during holiday season in our regular schools they are not counted either.  However if these activites performed outside of Mission and approved by the Mission will be considered volunteer hours.
  6. To maintain consistency, all planned activities must be submitted in writing to V. Sreenivas, Youth Seva Coordinator at youthseva@chinmayadc.org. The activities can be discussed with us. We shall jointly make a decision  and if they meet the criteria, they can be planned ahead of time.
  7. All necessary forms should be typed, completed and turned in to the Bala Vihar team for signatures. To be consistent, these forms will be filed with us for future reference
  8. It can be an activity by a given class, or classes and it can be offered to rest of the classes as long there is sufficient adult supervison. Older students can serve as leaders for younger children.

January 21, 2008 Monday, 11:30 AM - Martin Luther King's Birthday - Bala Vihar participates in preparing sandwiches for the homeless shelter. Student Service Learning hours will be provided for this activity. Complete the SSL Verification form and leave in office for Voluteer Service Coordinator.
